    The Trans Himalaya Biking Adventure is an exciting thrill around the scenic areas of the Mid-West Himalayas. Riding along the main trail and off the beaten tracks. 

     A great trip, with an opportunity to immerse within the in-depth of Nepal’s rural country farm life. The classic Trans-Himalayan trade route is a long and demanding ride on a road. Which is certainly amongst the contenders on the world’s wildest highway”. Flying to Pokhara and then connecting flight to Jomsom, an extension of the Tibetan plateau that allows getting acclimatized. There are various exciting places to explore around Jomsom and Kagbeni and then at the end at Gorkha areas. 

     Including the stunning panorama of Himalayan peaks, short easy bike rides around Jomsom will help you to get acclimatized. Enjoy a ride visiting some of the impressive and interesting monasteries and religious, and cultural sites.

    Throughout the biking trip, the group will have a support team with a vehicle on the camping portion. To keep up with the ambitious schedule as per the itinerary and reach the overnight destination on time.

    An adventurous biking tour that covers the best parts of the Himalayan destinations, riding along an old salt trade route. Following the Trans-Himalaya Caravan Trail of Nepal and Tibet / China for some days.

Itinerary

  • DAY 1
    Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. ?

    On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport you will be received by our staff and transfer you to respective Hotels. The guide or group leader will provide brief orientation. About the Hotel, Kathmandu and lodges on route, biking, do’s and don’ts and other related information. To make your adventure holiday in Nepal enjoyable and worthwhile.


  • DAY 2
    In Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour.

    After your first overnight in Kathmandu, you will be well informed about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest.
    On this day all the bikes will be transferred in a vehicle to Jomsom.


  • DAY 3
    Fly to Pokhara and transfer to Hotel.?

    As per the flight time, transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for the scenic short flight of half hour to Pokhara. Afternoon time to marvel the beautiful Fewa Lake and the snow-capped mountains from Mt .Dhaulagiri-Annapurna and Manaslu range.


  • DAY 4
    Fly to Jomsom 2,715 m 22 minutes scenic flight.

    Early morning short scenic flight to Jomsom duration of 22 minutes, on arrival our biking crew and guide receives you. For few minute walk to respective lodge for refreshment and lunch, as well for overnight halt.

    Afternoon will be very windy at Jomsom due to its location on windswept terrain of Mustang district. Which is an extension of Tibet South West dry plateau, Jomsom the main town and headquarter of the Mustang district. 

    Time permitting a short ride to the neighboring nice farm village of Thini and its lovely surrounding. Enjoy views of Nilgiris peaks with glimpse of Dhaulagiri Himal towards south west.


  • DAY 5
    Bike to Muktinath via Kagbeni and return on technical track and continue to Marpha (30 Kms). O/N Lodge. (B/L/D).?

    Start the morning having an early hearty breakfast, a pleasant to start on a wide valley of Kaligandaki River. The ride slowly past Eklai Bhatti a small settlement and head towards Kagbeni. From Kagbeni a steep winding trail reaching smaller hamlets and settlements. Then ride uphill towards Muktinath and enjoy a short visit around the holy premises of Muktinath Temple.  

    The Muktinath Temple, situated in an extreme environment, at 3,750 meters and surrounded by rugged, snow-clad mountains: Muktinath Temple, a sacred place in the middle of the Himalayas. From Muktinath an easy downhill to Eklai Bhatti and bike on flat windswept valley of Kaligandaki. As biking continues past Jomsom to charming village of Marpha for overnight stop. 

    A lovely gem of a village with white-washed houses and nice paved streets. Enjoy and celebrate the local apple products like cider, brandy and juice. The Kaligandaki area from Kagbeni to Larjung is famous for its delicious apple and its product.


  • DAY 6
    Trek to Tatopani 1,190 m -05 hours. Approx. 32 k.m.

    Morning a good gradual ride downhill to Tukuche, another lovely village, located beneath Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri Himal. Facing views of Mt. Nilgiris and massif icefalls of Dhaulagiri Himal. 

    From Tukuche ride to Larjung village, then crossing series of streams and river, reaching tree line of pines, and rhododendron. The trail meanders away from the river for a while for an hour then reach Kalapani a nice large village. 

    The ride continues downhill and through gorge of Kaligandaki River, listed as world’s deepest gorge. Due to its position situated between towering peaks of
    Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himal. Ride through Ghasa village and heading towards low warm farm country and at Tatopani village. 

    Tatopani village with natural Hot Spring to enjoy refreshing dip in its warm pools. Overnight in the comfort of a nice lovely lodge, and explore the village of Tatopani.


  • DAY 7
    Bike to Baglung. Approx. 23 k.m. 04 hrs. ?

    After a wonderful time at Tatopani, today a short ride of few hours as biking continues on gradual trail. The trail follows the Kaligandaki River, reaching at the junction of the two routes. Which leads to two major towns of Beni and Baglung, our route follows the path to Baglung overnight halt.

    Check into a nice lodge in the heart of busy town, with time to browse the market of Baglung. An interesting town to observe the local activities and cultures of the Nepalese of western Nepal.


  • DAY 8
    Bike to Pokhara via Sarankot. Approx. 72 k.m. -06 hrs.

    Today a long and interesting ride on the main road of Beni and Pokhara Highway. The ride leads to Kusma town famous for its long suspension bridge above Mygdi River. As well for world’s 2nd highest Bungee Jump, after Kusma reach Nayapul.

    From here on winding up for 45 minutes to an hour reaching past Lumle and Kande villages. An easy downhill ride to Naudanda village, overlooking views of the Annapurna Himalaya range with Mt. Machhapuchare (The Fish Tail).

    After a short refreshing stop, continue ride, leaving the main Highway heading towards scenic Sarankot Hill. A nice pleasant biking through number of farm village of Kaskikot, then reaching Sarankot high hill at 1,460 m.

    Enjoy the panorama of the Pokhara Valley with Lake Phewa, includes views of Annapurna-Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Machhapuchare (Fish Tail). 

    Sarankot famous for Para Gliding one of the popular adventure sports as well for Zip Linear. From here descend to Pokhara for overnight stop close to Lake Phewa.


  • DAY 9
    Bike to Begnas Tal. Approx. 30 k.m. 03 hrs.

    From Pokhara biking on the main highway on leaving the city outskirt facing marvelous views of Annapurna and Manaslu Himalayas. After few hours of ride our route diverts towards Begnas Lake for the overnight stop. 

    After Begnas Tal / Lake onwards in tented camps till the last day of biking, Begnas is another great spot. Overlooking views of Annapurna and Manaslu range and the tranquil Begnas Lake.


  • DAY 10
    Bike to Kalasti. Approx. 48 k.m. -04 hrs. ?

    After a wonderful time at Begnas Tal, morning ride leads through rural farm areas close views of Rupa Tal / Lake. The biking is on the gradual winding dirt tracks passing interesting towns and farm villages. The local villagers seldom sees foreigners pasting through their villages on this off beaten trail. A great opportunity to observe in-depth of rural farm life and activities.  

    The ride is pleasant around low sub-tropical paddy areas and farm villages.
    After an exciting morning reaching overnight camp site at a small village of Kalasti, enjoy the experience on camping. Where camp is well organized with separate unit of kitchen tent, supported by expert cook, kitchen hands and camping staff.

    Tea and dinner is served in a large dining tents with tables and chairs.
    Depending upon the size of a group, the dining is bright with kerosene of gas lamps.  


  • DAY 11
    Bike to Palungtar. Approx. 30 k.m.-05 hrs.?

    Enjoying an overnight in tents, with great services of camping staff and cook, morning after a hearty breakfast. Adventure continues towards east biking on short ups and down hills. As ride leads into cool shade of forest lined with blue pine and Sal trees. The temperature gets much warmer of sub-tropical climate around the lower hills of Mid-West Nepal. The ride finally ends on reaching overnight camping at small farm village of Palungtar.


  • DAy 12
    Bike to Gorkha 50 km. 05 hrs. ?

    Today’s ride leads to the famed Gorkha and the old fort palace of former Shah Dynasty. Contributed the unification of Nepal bringing together all the smaller province into one country Nepal.  The mid hills people are known as the Gorkha tribes, as biking leads through several farm villages and towns.

    Adventure heads to short ups and down hills with some gradual winding path till the town of Gorkha is reached. Overnight in the comfort in one of the best hotels of Gorkha town, meals are served from our camping kitchen.

    The Gorkha fort palace stands at thousand feet high above Gorkha Bazaar, the palace dominates the surroundings. Dominates the Gorkha town with its majestic positing, although only Hindus are allowed to enter the palace premises.
    But worth walking up the stairs for the view of Gorkha town and its scenic surroundings.


  • DAY 13
    Bike to Chambas. Approx. 60 k.m. -06 hrs.?

    After a great time at Gorkha town, the ride continues down to Arughat through the village Kanchowk. Which also falls on route of Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley treks. From Arughat town our route diverts further east crossing a bridge over Buri-Gandaki River. The ride leads through small farm settlements before reaching Chambas for overnight camping.


  • DAY 14
    Bike to Kakani 2,030 m. Approx. 75 k.m. -06 hrs. ?

    Today’s ride will be the longest day of biking as trail follows on winding gradual path through the forest. As ride leads past farm villages, then heading to a steep climb reaching Kakani, a hill town. Where air gets much cooler after days of biking around low warm areas. Kakani, a town with holiday resorts. Which is near Kathmandu valley rim a mere distance of about 23 k.m. downhill ride next morning. Located on a Trisuli Highway around district of Nuwakott, on route to Langtang Himal range. As well to the border of Nepal and Tibet / China overnight with last nights in tented camps. Kakani at an altitude of 2,030 m / 6,660 feet high offers grand views of Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang Himal.  


  • DAY 15
    Bike to Kathmandu 23 k.m. -04 hrs. ?

    Morning enjoy the grand panorama of Mid-West and Central Himalayas, having last camping breakfast. An easy downhill ride to Kathmandu past several towns and villages reaching Nagarjun forested area. Then ride leads on the suburb of Kathmandu city at Balaju, a famous water garden. Slowly entering the hustle and bustle busy areas in the heart of Kathmandu city. Reaching at the hotel by lunch time, after checking into your rooms. Enjoy the day at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs on your last day in Kathmandu and Nepal. 


  • DAY 16
    International Departure.?

    Last day in amazing Nepal and at Kathmandu, as time for your International flight. Our staff transfers you to the airport for final departure and bidding farewell to guides and staff. After a memorable and wonderful experience on The Trans Himalaya Biking Adventure.
