This trekking is less visited and traveled by trekking companies or by westerners. Hence, this path to lower Dolpo from Dhorpatan is more of an exploration. The itinerary that we have set is a guideline where one can revise the route as the walk progresses as per the trail and weather conditions suitable for clients and porters. The leader and our head guide will opt the best way possible to make this trek interesting and adventurous. Dolpo lies on the midway between the Tibetan Plateau and the Dhaulagiri Himal range, the highest altitude of inhabited land in Dolpo. Geographically a southern extension of Tibet, it is located within the borders of the kingdom of Nepal. It has also been the country’s largest national park and conservation since 1984. Apart from being home to a fascinating race of Tibetan speaking people, the park sustains an abundance of wild life including Musk Deer, Himalayan Blue Sheep and the legendary elusive Snow Leopard. The hardy highlanders of Dolpo are traders, exchanging barley for Tibetan rock salt and they take their yaks onto the Tibetan plateau during the summer for grazing. After Pokhara, this wonderful adventure begins from Beni encountering interesting places, people, villages, valleys and serene forest of pines, oaks and rhododendrons. The trek further passes by many gigantic mountain ranges and over the Jaljala pass at 3,5100m till we reach lower Dolpo. Dolpo, one of the most beautiful trekking areas in the remote far corners of Nepal, is rarely visited by outsiders.
