This wonderful cultural journey includes most of the traditional villages where most of the trekkers less frequented region of Solu and Khumbu region in the close back drop of rich Buddhism culture and high snow peaks. This adventure begins with a sweeping scenic flight to Phaplu, the trek start from here. The trek follows many farm villages on route with awesome views of the high snow capped peaks of the world, and to the highest spot at Thyangboche Monastery for the outstanding breathtaking panoramic views of peaks including Mt. Everest. This trek is ideal for good acclimatization, adjacent to quaint villages with their own monasteries, the root of the Sherpa and Tibetan Buddhism lies in these steep slopes of Solu, as this traditional route passes equal to the elevation of Namche Bazaar and discover the fertile valleys and the hospitality of the Sherpa people without the vast crowds found beyond Lukla on this classic Everest trail. The original expedition route between Jiri and Phaplu to Namche Bazaar has been all but ignored since the construction of the Lukla airport, sponsored by Sir Edmund Hillary in order to deliver supplies to the schools and hospital he founded. After the adventurous, memorable journey our route leads back to Lukla for the scenic short flight back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

  • Day 1.
    Arrive at Kathmandu 1, 300m via respective airlines.

    On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport you will be received by our staff and will escort you to the Hotel, where our staff will give you a brief orientation of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking, do's and don't and other related information that you might require while in Nepal

  • Day 2.
    A day in Kathmandu.
    After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest.
  • Day 3.
    Fly to Phaplu and Trek to Ringmo 2,600m. 4-5 hrs. 30 minutes flight to Phaplu 2,200m 10-12 km.
    Early morning after breakfast you will be transferred from the Hotel to domestic Airport a short drive of 20-30 minutes, after the necessary security formalities (keep your pen-knife-lighter-matches and other sharp cutting items including scissors and other knife in the bigger baggage not in hand bags) board in the smaller twin otter or similar plane for the sweeping panoramic flight to Phaplu. On arrival you will be received by our trekking guides. At Phaplu you will have time to wander around, while the Sherpa crew sort and divide the load. Lunch hour depends upon the time of arrival at Phaplu or few walks further on route to Ringmo. The walk is gradual and most of the way, with few ups from where you can have a superb view of the distance snow capped peaks, then crossing a short suspension bridge, from here after a short climb brings you at Ringmo a nice quiet village for the overnight stop

    Free day in Kathmandu.

    Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,190m. 4-5 hrs.
    Today will be an average day walk to Nunthala, leaving Ringmo from the large mani 'prayer' wall, an hour or less steep climb through the pine forest reaches at Takshindu pass at 3,070m marked with mani and chorten. As the trail pass through an arch of prayer flags with great view of several striking peaks including Kusum Kangguru, Thamserku and Kantenga to the north east where we will head eventually. On the eastern side of the pass route descends all the way to our overnight destination at Nunthala passing through Takshindu Ghompa., which was set up around 1946 by a lama from Thyangboche monastery, this is also a home of the renowned late Babu Chiri Sherpa who climbed Everest 11th times and the fastest man to speed to Everest summit and the only climber who has stayed on top of Everest for more than 21 hours. From Takshindu our walk leads downhill for more than 2 hours through the cool shade of the forest and then coming to a farmland heralding that the Nunthala is close by. A short walk from the stream brings to our overnight camp at this village of Nunthala also known as Manidingma. Nunthala a fairly large hill village of the Rai and Sherpa people.

    Trek to Bupsa Danda approx. 2,250m. 5-6 hrs.
    Our morning journey begins with a descend after leaving the suburb of the village, following the steep downhill slope through the terraces and forest where you can often see Languor monkeys all the way to the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi, after a brief moment here crossing over the raging river, our route leads to a gradual winding uphill climb for an hour or more to the Rai settlement at Jubing at 1,675m, the areas around here are fairly warm. From here the path meanders through stands of bamboo near to the houses. Our walk continues towards Khari Khola 2,200m, a village of predominately Sherpa and Magar inhabitants. This is a village of Mani walls and water wheels that every Wednesday has a thriving market, peddlers from which then head off to Namche Bazaar for Saturday market. After a good break here our route leads to the next ridge crossing the river tributaries of the Khari Khola and climbing steeply for an hour or more to the small settlement of Bupsa, perched on the ridge overlooking superb views of the rolling hills and valleys, overnight camp near the farm field on the grassy ground.

    Trek to Surkhe. 2,295m 5-6 hrs.
    From here onwards the air gets much cooler as we head nearer to the Khumbu area, walk leads to a climb on the wide meandering path through a mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and the fragment Daphne bholua; (Nepalese paper plant), bird life, including pheasant, is abundant along this section of the trail. Our route continues traversing the flank of the Kharte Dande high above the river to a notch in the ridge, the Kharte La 3,880m, walk continues through a small village at Puiyan 2,800m, where we will stop for a lunch break, and a nice spot in the middle of the forest. After Puiyan the walk is gentle for couple of hours on the long winding path and rising slowly on the flank of the Sebuk Danda to the Chotok La 2,945m. From this ridge high above towards North West, one can see the Lukla town and its airstrip and the Surkhe village down below, then descending nearly 700 meters drop to Surkhe Overnight camp near by the stream which is an idle spot for camping. Surkhe situated just beneath the hills of Lukla, where one can see the airplane flying overhead.

    Trek to Phakding.2,650m. 5-6 hrs.
    From Surkhe, route diverts westward to join the main trail coming from Lukla, time permitting if some one wish to visit Lukla can do so which will take about 2 hours of steep uphill climb and can join later in the camp at Phakding. Our walk leads to a climb on the winding path, coming to a village at Muse and Ghai Kharka after two hours of good walk, from here a gentle climb brings you at a place called Choplung where the road from Lukla joins. The walk from here is on the gradual path most of the way, with few ups in between, from Tarhe khola, where you can have a superb view of Kusum-Kangru 6,369m after crossing a short suspension bridge, and a climb brings to the Ghat village, another hour of pleasant walk reaches you at Phakding village for the overnight stop near the bank of the Dudh-Kosi river.

    Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440m approx. 5-6 hrs.
    From Phakding after crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh-Kosi the walk is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river again, with magnificent view of Thamserku 6,608m, then reaching a small village of Monjo after the last 20 minutes climb from the stream, after Monjo, comes to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, from here a short descend to the Jorsalle village, the last village till Namche Bazaar is reached, the walk is pleasant on the river bed till the last bridge over the Imjatse river is reached, from here the walk is along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with magnificent view of Kwangde peak, Kusum kangru Mt. Everest- Nuptse wall, Lhotse and the closer view of Taweche peak can be seen all the way up, from here another 1-2 hour walk up brings to the famed Namche Bazaar.

    Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.
    Suggested activities a short walk uphill to the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarter, a magnificent spot perched on top of Namche Bazaar with breathtaking view of the surrounding snow capped giants and the valleys way down, with an interesting museum with all kinds of information regarding the history of the Himalayas, geographic, culture, mountaineering history and existing information on flora and fauna of this region, afternoon at leisure.

    Trek to Thame 3,885m 4-5 hrs.
    From Namche walk leads towards west with a short climb to the ridge overlooking grand views of Namche and surrounding snow peaks, from here the path leads to the serene forest and passing through scattered farm villages including Thamo where there's a hydro-electric plant for the Khumbu region. From here few hours of good walk brings you at Thame for the overnight stop with time to visit its old monastery.

    Trek to Khunde / Khumjung village 3,730m. 3-4 hrs.
    After Thame trace the route above the ridge of Namche towards Syangboche following the trail to Khunde and Khumjung the largest of the Sherpa villages in the Khumbu area, trek leads towards the Syangboche small airstrip, the walk is quite strenuous uphill due to high altitude overlooking the magnificent view of Mt.Kwangde, Thamserku and other neighboring peaks with an aerial view of Namche Bazaar down below. On reaching Syangboche small airstrip, take a short climb towards the Khunde village situated in the same glacial valley as Khumjung village beneath the sacred Mt. Khumbila 5,761m. A quiet gentle path brings to the sleepy village of Khumjung via Khunde for the overnight halt.

    Trek to Monjo. 2,835m. 4-5 hours walk.
    From here the walk leads downhill most of the way to Jorsalle and to Monjo through Namche Bazaar after reaching the bottom cross the bridge over the torrent Dudh Kosi River, after the bridge climb leads you back to the village of Monjo for the overnight stop located just near after the Sagarmatha National Park entrance.

    Trek to Lukla. 5 hrs walk.
    Last day of this great trek will be one of the good walk to Lukla, you can walk at your own chosen pace, leisurely and enjoying the lush green scenery around. Apart from few short uphill the only long climb will be just before Lukla which will take approximately 45 minutes from a place called Chop lung or from the old big oak tree. On reaching Lukla, prepare for the last day great dinner and a party with the fellow Sherpa crew, porters and trekking members.

    Fly Lukla-Kathmandu.
    The flight time to Kathmandu, are schedule for morning normally, because of the wind in the afternoon, sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason beyond our command. As we get hold of the boarding pass depending upon our flight time we make our way to the terminal for security check, this scenic flight from Lukla takes about 45 minutes to Kathmandu, a panoramic view of the snow capped peaks can be seen from window of the plane. Arriving at Kathmandu domestic terminal, our office staff will receive and transfer you back to the Hotel.

    A free day in Kathmandu, please inform our staff if you would like to go on another short tour in and around Kathmandu Valley.

    Transfer to Airport for the International departure.
    Today as per your international flight time, keep your confirmed air ticket, and your passport handy. Our Office staff will take you to the airport for your final departure from this amazing country, Nepal.
