Introduction
Parchamo and Ramdung peaks are magnificent to climb and are located in the Rolwaling region. The Rolwaling region is a remote and little-visited valley near the Tibetan border. Warm-up peaks include Ramdung and Parchamo, which require relatively simple snow walking. The ascent to the summits is not technically difficult, but the altitude and remoteness of the peaks make it difficult. Both summits provide spectacular views of Everest, Gaurishankar, Melungtse, and other peaks.
This 27-day journey will take you to off-the-beaten-path mountain solitude, a spectacular high alpine valley, a rich pine and Rhodondendron forest, and, last but not least, an unspoilt rural Sherpa village. We climb Ramdung peak after leaving Rolwaling's last village, Beding. Another challenge awaits us as we cross the 5755-meter Tashi Laptsa pass before continuing on to Parchamo summit. After the ascent, we hike to Thame, where we reach the Everest region.
The trip then joins the main trail to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpas' capital, from here. A picturesque day hike from Namche to Lukla, followed by a panoramic flight back to Kathmandu the next day.

The Kathmandu valley is surrounded by amazing UNESCO world heritage sites. After breakfast, you'll tour Boudhanath Stupa (the world's largest Buddhist shrine), Pashupatinath (the world's holiest Hindu temple), and Durbar Squares (Palaces and fortresses of medieval Kings). The day will be highlighted by the Nepalese people's way of life, pious sadhus and monks, intriguing history, and awe-inspiring architecture. Trekking/mountaineering businesses can also sell or rent any necessary equipment or clothes.
We go northeast from Kathmandu on the Friendship Highway, which connects Kathmandu and Lhasa. We abandon the Friendship Highway at Lamosangu and take a different route to Jiri. Previously, there was only a motorable road up to Dolakha. However, thanks to the Tamakoshi hydropower development project, we can now drive all the way to Shigati. We hike from Shigati to Suri Dobhan, where we will spend the night.
Today's hike will take us along the river before continuing on level ground. We pass through various streams and forests filled with orchid, rhododendron, and other plant species. We pass under a suspension bridge on our route to Jagat, a tiny township with inhabitants from several ethnic groups.
From Jagat, it takes around seven and a half hours to go to Simigaon. We follow the flat route as it ascends and dips through the dense jungle as we move on. The suspension bridges are crossed multiple times. On the way, you'll pass through a number of settlements. On the walk, there are little tea cafes and local merchants. Then we climb up to Simigaon, a little village where Buddhists and Hindus coexist.
We cross through a couple more Sherpa villages. On a clear morning, Mt Gaurishankar, which towers above the Rolwaling Valley, may be viewed. We continue going towards the Rolwaling Valley from the ridge top at Simigaun. The trail winds its way up a rocky, wooded ridge with lovely pine woods. We descend to the Rolwaling Khola River once more (river).
Our trail climbs higher via various plant species and Rhododendron trees. We continue our journey down the Rolwaling Khola's left bank (river). We reach a tributary river from Gaurishankar as we continue down the deep river valley. The views of Mt Gaurishankar are spectacular from here. The trail continues to climb until we reach a relatively level and simple area. Finally, we arrive in Beding, a Sherpa village by the river.
Today is the acclimatization rest day. For acclimatization, you can go for a short hike in the area. The spectacular vistas of Gauri Shankar and Tibetan peak in the background draw your attention.
We journey from Beding to Na, which takes four to five hours. Today is a good day to look for snow on the valley's upper elevations. You can also take a trip to the adjacent glacier. The trail ascends along the river's edge. This location is fairly open, with plenty of fresh air and the soothing sound of the river. As the trip progresses, you will be treated to a panoramic vista of the mountains. We also come across a Sherpa community and learn about their specialties.
It takes roughly six and a half hours to walk from Na to Yalung Glacier. With crampons and ice sacks, the hike ascends a steep glacier walk with the ground coated with white ice all over. The Yalung Glacier high camp will be your home for the night.
You will be trekking uphill till you reach Yalung Danda, after which you will be trekking up a difficult ascending path to Base Camp. The trail you're on is a rocky glacier trail. You will be able to see views of mountains such as Gauri Shanker, Menlung, Yalung, and the Tibetan Himalayas.
After a trek of 5-6 hrs, reach ramdung high camp.
We'll go for the peak before the sun rises. The ascent to the summit is hard and takes 6-7 hours. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking mountain views you'll ever see. After that, we'll head down to base camp.
In case of bad weather which cannot be predicted but is possible to happen we will stay in the camp for the day.
We set out early in the morning for the Drolumbu Glacier. Throughout the day, we wander by the glaciers and marvel at the natural beauty of the area. The trail climbs via some uphill rock and a moderate stroll over the glacier moraine, passing rocks overhangs on occasion.
This day we trek towards tashi lapcha base camp which is a 6 hour trek and stay overnight there in camp.
From the base camp we trek towards tashi lapcha pass and from there we continue our trek towards cave camp which is almost 8 hours of trekking before setting up camp for the overnight stay.
We start early and trek towards Parchamo peak high camp before our summit to parchamo peak begins.
On this day our summit to parchamo peak begins where we ascend, upon reaching the summit, we again descend towards cave camp and stay there for the night.
In case of bad weather, we will be staying in the cave camp as the weather is unpredictable in such altitude.
Our journey's longest day has arrived. We make our way to the summit of Taashi Lapcha, the highest peak on this Rolwaling Khumbu trip. Take in the breathtaking views of the Khumbu peaks, which include Everest and Makalu, among others. Drop down to Col and then to Thengpo.
In comparison to the previous day, today's trek is relatively simple. Thame Village, the first sign of civilization since Beding, is reached after a gentle descent. At the village's higher end, there lies a historic and interesting Monastery. Now you'll get your first look of the Khumbu's big peaks, including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kusum Kangaru.
The traditional trade route through the Nangpa-la into Tibet branches north at Thame, following the Bhote Koshi, which is also the name of the 2-3 river on this walk. The trail descends softly at first, then sharply to Phunki Tenga, where it crosses the Dudh Koshi River on a bridge. The trail ascends steeply to Sanasa, passing through multiple villages and numerous teashops on its way to Sanasa, where local Sherpa people sell Tibetan items. There are little ups and downs on the journey from Sanasa to Namche, with views of forests, countryside, and mountains.
We'll stroll a short distance to a museum known for its Sherpa traditional customs exhibitions. We may also climb up to the Syangboche Airport, which is close to the Everest View Hotel. From this vantage position, we get breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including a spectacular sunrise and sunset across the Khumbu peaks.
We follow the trail as it passes via Hillary suspension bridge and Sherpa communities. The trek's last day is customarily marked by a party with your trekking companions. Everyone is ecstatic to have completed the incredible Everest base camp journey. This will also be your final day on the mountain.
It takes roughly 35 minutes to fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. We'll fly to Kathmandu first thing in the morning. You will be transported to your hotel upon arrival in Kathmandu. In your hotel, you can rest and relax throughout the day.
Today is the last day of our trek across Nepal's highlands! Our agent will drop you off at the airport for your foreign departure roughly 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
