Himalaya Expeditions introduces various attractive programs to those who prefer a leisure and moderate walking holiday on the foot hills of the massive Annapurna mountain range. The trek consists of trails that pass by traditional thatched-roofed villages, set among the terraced fields. The sceneries make an attractive picture with the backdrop of the magnificent snowy range of Annapurna including the most majestic peaks of all the Himalayan range Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail). This trek passes through a more diverse range of climate, vegetation and cultures than most small countries can boast of in their entirety. From lush vegetation of rain and temperate forests and alpine climate to the terraced rice fields, the kind of land and local people vary on a daily basis along the route. This feature presents the trekkers with a remarkable introduction to Nepal's marvelous cultural and natural beauty.

Itinerary

  • Day 1.
    Arrive in Kathmandu 1,300m via respective airlines.
    On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport you will be received by our staff and transfer you to respective 5 star Hotels, where our guide will give you a brief orientation of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Treks, do's and don't and other related information that you might require while in Nepal.
  • Day 2.
    A day in Kathmandu.
    After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest. Sometime, depending upon your flight arrival if it’s late in the night we will do this tour in the afternoon instead of morning to give you a nice rest before you venture out of the Hotel in our interesting tour.
  • Day 3.
    A scenic flight to Pokhara 950m 1-hr trek to Sanctuary Lodge 1,100m.
    As per the flight schedule for Pokhara, our staff will transfer you to the domestic airport for a short half hour scenic flight to Pokhara. On arrival at Pokhara our trekking staff will receive you with two hours drive on the suburb of Pokhara to start this scenic trek. Walk begins from Nayapul passing through the charming village Birethati by the River Modi and through the rice terraces by the River Modi with time for short walk.
  • Day 4.
    Trek to Ghandruk approx: 2,012 m. 3-4 hrs walk.
    The trek after breakfast leads to gradual uphill leaving the farm villages behind through with occasional view of the Annapurna ranges. The walk is fairly moderate with slow uphill on the stone steps, reaching the small settlement Kimche, from the walk is gentle as the path winds with few short steep up till Ghandruk (also known as Ghandrung) is reached for lunch and for the overnight with ample time for a short walk around the Ghandruk. From here magnificent view of the snow-capped range and of the surrounding landscapes.
  • Day 5.
    At Gandruk for local tour and exploration.
    An easy free day at leisure, morning visit the Gurung museum and meet the local Gurungs, a Shepherd and farmer by profession and traditions, since last 18th-19th Centaury they are recruited in the Nepal-India-British Army and as well in Singapore Police as gallant Gorkha soldiers. Their courage’s fame has been respected and honored throughout the world for their incredible bravery in the last 2 great Wars. Meet some of the retired Gurung Gorkha soldiers they will be happy and welcomes you with their ever friendly smiles.
  • Day 6.
    Trek to Birethati 1,100m 5 hours walk.
    The trek today is one of the most easy walk overlooking the views of the snow capped mountain and the terraced farm fields and fertile valleys passing through several farm villages and paddy fields, as the path leads back to lower area, the landscapes and climate changes into sub-tropical and to more rice paddy field, after 4-5 hours walk reaching back at Sanctuary Lodge near the beautiful of Birethati.
  • Day 7.
    Trek to Gurung Lodge at Majgaun 1,400m 3-4 hrs.
    After a wonderful time at Sanctuary Lodge with the sound of raging River Modi the walk takes through the charming Birethati village after the bridge over river Modi, our walk leads North West leaving the river Modi and Birethati behind after an hour climb reaching at Chandrakot situated at an altitude of 1580 m. From here, there are spectacular views of the Annapurna South, the sacred mountain – Machhapuchhare and Modi valley. The walk of half an hour takes us to the village, Majgaon. After having lunch in the hotel, we visit a local house which has been converted into a museum in the local village of Tanchok. You can also visit a school and if there are more than 6 people in your group, the children along with the mother group will visit your place and perform local dances and typical songs of the region.
  • Day 8.
    Trek to Basanta Lodge at Dhampus 1,500m 4-5 hrs.
    After a great time here at Majgaon in the hidden pockets of mid-hills of Annapurna our route heads on the gradual winding path away from the main busy trekking trail, after an hour reaching the top ridge, the walk heads down through the pristine forest of rhododendron, holly-oaks and magnolia reaching at Pothana with fabulous views of the Annapurna and Manaslu massif mountain range including the magnificent towering Mt. Machhapuchare the Fish Tail peak, from this village an easy gradual and down hill walk brings you at the hill village of Dhampus, a large scattered Gurung village with unparallel scenery of the Mt. Dhaulagiri-Annapurna-Manaslu Himalayan mountains world’s 7th 10th and 8th highest peaks at one look, afternoon free at leisure for short walk around the village or just marvel the magnificent views.
  • Day 9.
    Trek and drive to Pokhara.
    From this scenic spot at Dampus Basanta Lodge, an easy downhill walk through rural farm village with the ever present view of Mt. Machhapuchare, few hours descend reaches at Phedi the bottom of Dhampus village a busy place and as it is also the start and ending point of various trekking around Annapurna region. From here 40 minutes drive reaches you at Pokhara for the overnight stop with time to marvel the scenic Phewa Lake and the surrounding hillside with Annapurna and Manaslu mountain range in the backdrop.
  • Day 10.
    Fly Kathmandu.
    As per the flight schedule a short drive to the domestic air terminal for the scenic flight to Kathmandu on arrival our staff will transfer you back to the Hotel.
  • Day 11.
    Transfer to Airport for the International departure.
    Today as per your international flight time, keep your confirmed air ticket, and your passport handy. HimEX Staff will take you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal.

Our price does not include followings:

1. International flights to / from Kathmandu.

2. Nepal entry visa fees.

3. Lunch and dinner while in Kathmandu & Pokhara Hotel.

4. Travel, Medical and Personal insurance.

5. Rescue evacuation in case of emergency.

6. Personal clothing and personal trekking gear including sleeping bag & down jacket.

7. Expenses of personal nature, i.e. tipping, laundry, bottled drinks, bar bills etc.

8. Any expense for early returning member due sickness, injury or any other reason. No refund will be entertained for any unused service.

9. Extra expense occurred due to unexpected circumstances like cancellation of internal flights, floods, strike etc.

Extensions

Trip Extension: Day 10-11: 1-2 days rafting at Trisuli River. Morning three hours drive from Pokhara to Rafting “put in point” at Trisuli River meet our river guide and crew members and start 3 hrs rafting with lunch on the way this scenic float encounters white water rapids, bouncy waves and overnight stop at Riverside Resorts. Next morning float till lunch and drive to the low lands of Nepal and to the Jungle at Chitwan National Park for elephant safari and other jungle activities overnight at Jungle Lodge (3-4 star standards Hotel or Lodge) Day 11-12: 2-3 days Jungle Safari at Chitwan National Park. Full day Jungle activities with lunch and dinner break, the program include elephant safari, nature walks, elephant bathing, dug out canoe ride observing water birds and crocs on the shore. Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu. Morning after breakfast depart the Lodge for a drive to Bharatpur Airport the flight takes less than half hour, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective Hotels. Day 14: Depart Kathmandu for homeward bound. Today as per your international flight time, keep your confirmed air ticket, and your passport handy.
