About 10 kilometers distance away from Kathmandu city, just 30 minutes ride on motor bikes, following the road to Jhor, about 10 minutes away on the right side of Jhor to reach this old and impressive Chandeshwori temple, surrounded with green forest and small populated villagers, the big black sculpture of ferocious looking goddess Chandeshwori attracts devotees to visit this temple.
The Lord Shiva’s shrine around this temple is equally important with magnificent sculpture of Shiva that makes its visitors to take pictures of this interesting monument. As this temple located on a small hill surrounded with greenery, where visitors and pilgrims finds peace in this lovely ambiance environment and taking shots with their camera of this beautiful surrounding.
Unlike other temple of Lord Shiva, this interesting temple built on top of a small hill top, offering eye catching scenery of surrounding rolling hills and valley, some part of Kathmandu Valley can be seen from the wonderful spot.
Festival like New year, Teej, Sarashwati Puja, Shivaratri (MahaShivaratri), Holi, GhodeJatra (Festival of Horses), Buddha Jayanti, GaiJatra (Cow Festival), Krishna Janmastami, IndraJatra, Dashain and Tihar. These festivals are celebrated all over the country. Among these festivals ‘BisketJatra’ which falls in New Year, the main and major festival of the place, a big fair takes place where huge number of devotees comes here to take part in this fair to worship with offering to the deities.
On the way to Jhor, Sapantirtha also can be visited; huge number of devotees comes here for pray and worship god and goddess during the same time of Bisket Jatra festival as well. At present young people come here and ride their bike beyond Jhor for picnic and fun, in the shade of beautiful cascading waterfalls and getting cool and wet just near by the temple of Lord Shiva (Baundeshwor).
This place is famous for its green forest and high volume of water creating beautiful waterfall near temple. Hundreds of people visit every day to enjoy the waterfall and the river closeby.
