First ever mountain biking on top at Peekay ridge top at 4,065 m / 13,415 ft, an overwhelming ride starting from Phaplu the main town of Solu of Everest region, riding and exploring forgotten rural village in the unmapped area north west of Solu area, where its mostly populated with Sherpa, Tamang, Rai, Hindu Brahmin, Chettries and some Newar tribe reside in this terraced farm country in the shade of towering Mt. Everest and Khumbu’s adjoining tall peaks.
Probably we were the first bikers to ride uphill to the top of Peekay hill top famous view points of alluring snow capped mountains from Jugal Himal, Dorji Lakpa, Gaurishanker, Melung-tse, Numbur, Cho-Oyu with Everest and other Khumbu’s group of peaks.
An exciting and wonderful adventure on bikes through enchanting lovely woodlands lined with rhododendron, oaks, pines and fir trees, although in some sections needs to carry or trolley the bikes with overwhelming experience in this quaint off route trail, where it is less visited by westerners or trekkers in this serene ambiance and in complete harmony of nature in complete wilderness within high rolling green high hills and snow capped peaks.
Our trip was in the post monsoon time, on the day we reached Peekay hill top it was overcast with thick blanket of fogs, we could only see some snow clad peaks in the north direction towards Khumbu of Everest area.
This exciting bike trip was well worth an experience in this exotic country where in spring and summer time this place turns into paradise with wild flowers in full blooms with varieties of rhododendron flowers from tall trees to bushes.
From the top of Peekay danda, which is just south from its twin other hills of Lamjura-la at 3,560 m located on the main trail of Jiri to Everest.
We would like to extend and share our wonderful experience with all interested bikers to join in our next trip in this wild natural world in the shade of Mt. Everest and array of world’s highest Himalayan peaks.
