    Live To Love – Michelle Yeoh in Nepal

    Michelle Yeoh, Live to Love Global Ambassador, has arrived in Nepal, specifically to join in the ongoing relief work undertaken by Live to Love volunteers on ground. She joined actively in the distribution of relief supplies in the remote village of Thaple (next to Ramkot) in Kathmandu, where most of the houses were destroyed in the two earthquakes and where food supplies were badly needed.     Gautam Buddha

    The Story:

    Four Reincarnations of Lord Bishnu

    Shesh Narayan

    Shesh Narayan an oldest among many temples of Nepal, built by King Haridutta Varma of ancient Lichavi period.Shesh Narayan

    Shesh Narayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Narayan (aka Bishnu) one of his many reincarnations.

    This temple located near Dakshinkali, southwest of Kathmandu valley, at Pharping area, Shesh Narayan temple stands beneath a big hill cliff, this temple visited by thousands of people throughout the year, other interesting part of this temple premises a clear fresh water pond with fishes, and a sculpture of Lord Ganesh and Lord Hanuman.

    A popular place for pilgrimage offering prayer to the Lord Vsihnu /  Shesh Nayarayan with other Hindu and Buddhist deities.

    Ichangu Narayan

    Another reincarnation of Lord Narayan is Ichangu Narayan situated three kilometers, Northwest of Kathmandu valley and from Swayambhunath Temple. Ichangu Narayan
    The temple can be seen from Swayambhunath a small part of it.

    Built with two floors pagoda style architecture, the temple was constructed in 1200 A.D. This temple, famous for its beautiful location and this is a god’s of power fulfilling wishes.

    Sculpture of Garuda and other Vaishnavite symbols, makes this temple a wonderful place with phenomenal carving and creatively built temples and statues. This temple is worth for a half or a day trip. The greenery, forest and villages of this nice place are the other main attraction and to stay here for a while reaching this by hike or on drive.

    Changu Narayan

    Most famous among four Narayan temples, Changu Narayan, situated outskirt and above from the medieval and traditional Newar city of Bhaktapur,
    a Hindu templededicated to Lord Vishnu or Narayan whicChangu Narayanh is 8 km east from Kathmandu city area.

    Temple was built around 325 A.D. during Licheva period dedicated to Lord Narayan.

    Visitors are fascinated for its fine intricate wood and metal craved arts, architecture and amazing construction of this ancient temple.

    The surroundings area of the temple premises lines with traditional and typical Nepalese style houses near the Manahara river, which flows near by the hill making this place a charming with its serene, ambiance surrounding.

    Bishankhu Narayan

    Surrounded by thick forest, around 10 km away from Sidhhipur, Lalitpur, lies the temple of Lord Bishankhu Narayan. Thousands of people visit this place every year. Especially on auspicious time as per Hindu Luna calendar, a big festival and celebration takes place at Tihar with thousands of devotees and pilgrims.

    The sculpture of God is inside the cave. The small cave makes theBishankhu Narayan temple interesting, splendid view of Kathmandu valley from this place.

    A great and delightful opportunity for Photographers to capture nature at its best and a chance to observe different types of trees and vegetations, this place is abundant with fresh water from its natural springs  a place with immense farming raising buffaloes and cows for milk which is one of the main product of this area.  The villagers are very depended on farming and breeding animals for its rich milks to supply around Kathmandu.

    Nepal has suffered Rs. 43 Billion loss in tourism sector

    The Great Quake of April 25 and the following aftershocks have caused an estimated damage of around Rs 43 billion to the Tourism sector.

    According to a report made public by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Sunday, the devastating earthquake damaged infrastructures including hotels, home stay, tour operators, Gumba (Stupas), temples, mosques, trekking routes, mountaineering sector and historical sites worth of Rs 43,990,500,996.

    The Ministry tabled the report at the meeting of International Relations and Labour Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Sunday. Of the total 1,559 hotels damaged in the earthquake, 367 hotels were damaged in Rasuwa district alone while 300 hotels based in Kathmandu suffered damages.

    Hotels based in Kavre and Lalitpur districts have sustained less damage among the 10 districts hit hardest by the earthquake. Only 50 hotels in these two districts have been damaged. The report states that the estimated damage to the hotels amounts to

    Likewise, 344 home stay centres were damaged with an estimated loss of Rs 17.2 million.

    Similarly, tour operators, who are yet to resume services, have suffered losses of Rs 19,897,298 after the great quake. Trekking agencies have reported an estimated loss of Rs 3,512,448 between the months of May-September.

    The ministry report states that 1,500 gumbas, temples and mosques also suffered damages worth Rs 120 million during the April 25 quake. Likewise, around 155 km trekking routes have been completely damaged while 242 km routes have been partially damaged.

    The report has estimated a loss of around Rs 10 million in mountaineering sector, while the damages to historical sites have caused a loss of Rs 70.5 million.

    Damage by earthquake to Nepalese tourism industry

    KATHMANDU, May 3: Altogether 57 tourists died and 109 others are missing after the massive earthquake jolted Nepal on Saturday, said Nepal Police.

    According to data released by Tourist Police Unit of Nepal Police on Sunday evening, altogether 109 tourists were injured in the magnitude 7.8 earthquake.

    The foreigners killed during the earthquake include 40 Indian, four Americans, three Chinese, three French, two Italians and one each from Australia, Estonia, Japan, Hong Kong and Spain.

    Foreigners Victims in Earthquake

    The Tourist Police Unit said 109 other foreign tourists are confirmed missing so far in Nepal after the massive earthquake on Saturday. According to the details received, they include 15 French, 12 Russians, 10 Canadians, nine Americans, eight each Indians and Spanish, seven Germans and four Bangladeshis.

    Australians, Austrians, Swedish, Turkish, South Africans, Indonesians, Germans, Malaysians, Chileans, Polish and Israelis are among those missing tourists in Nepal after the earthquake. Nepal Police has mobilized its Central Bureau of Investigation to trace the missing tourists.

    Likewise, altogether 52 tourists were injured during the earthquakes. They include 10 Indians, nine Chinese, six French, five Italians, four Germans, four Australians, and two Americans and two Dutch. Canadian, Danish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Swedish and Spanish are among tourists injured in the earthquake.

    Unlike other temple of Lord Shiva, this interesting temple built on top of a small hill top, offering eye catching scenery of surrounding rolling hills and valley, some part of Kathmandu Valley can be seen from the wonderful spot.

    Festival like New year, Teej, Sarashwati Puja, Shivaratri (MahaShivaratri), Holi, GhodeJatra (Festival of Horses), Buddha Jayanti, GaiJatra (Cow Festival), Krishna Janmastami, IndraJatra, Dashain and Tihar. These festivals are celebrated all over the country. Among these festivals ‘BisketJatra’ which falls in New Year, the main and major festival of the place, a big fair takes place where huge number of devotees comes here to take part in this fair to worship with offering to the deities.

    On the way to Jhor, Sapantirtha also can be visited; huge number of devotees comes here for pray and worship god and goddess during the same time of Bisket Jatra festival as well. At present young people come here and ride their bike beyond Jhor for picnic and fun, in the shade of beautiful cascading waterfalls and getting cool and wet just near by the temple of Lord Shiva (Baundeshwor).

    This place is famous for its green forest and high volume of water creating beautiful waterfall near temple. Hundreds of people visit every day to enjoy the waterfall and the river closeby.

    Most Adventurous Mountain Biking Experience at Himalayas

    First ever mountain biking on top at Peekay ridge top at 4,065 m / 13,415 ft, an overwhelming ride starting from Phaplu the main town of Solu of Everest region, riding and exploring forgotten rural village in the unmapped area north west of Solu area, where its mostly populated with Sherpa, Tamang, Rai, Hindu Brahmin, Chettries and some Newar tribe reside in this terraced farm country in the shade of towering Mt. Everest and Khumbu’s adjoining tall peaks.

    Probably we were the first bikers to ride uphill to the top of Peekay hill top famous view points of alluring snow capped mountains from Jugal Himal, Dorji Lakpa, Gaurishanker, Melung-tse, Numbur, Cho-Oyu with Everest and other Khumbu’s group of peaks.

    An exciting and wonderful adventure on bikes through enchanting lovely woodlands lined with rhododendron, oaks, pines and fir trees, although in some sections needs to carry or trolley the bikes with overwhelming experience in this quaint off route trail, where it is less visited by westerners or trekkers in this serene ambiance and in complete harmony of nature in complete wilderness within high rolling green high hills and snow capped peaks.

    Our trip was in the post monsoon time, on the day we reached Peekay hill top it was overcast with thick blanket of fogs, we could only see some snow clad peaks in the north direction towards Khumbu of Everest area.

    This exciting bike trip was well worth an experience in this exotic country where in spring and summer time this place turns into paradise with wild flowers in full blooms with varieties of rhododendron flowers from tall trees to bushes.

    From the top of Peekay danda, which is just south from its twin other hills of Lamjura-la at 3,560 m located on the main trail of Jiri to Everest.

    We would like to extend and share our wonderful experience with all interested bikers to join   in our next trip in this wild natural world in the shade of Mt. Everest and array of world’s highest Himalayan peaks.
